Topic Description

The issue of human rights violations, particularly in the context of the Rakhine-Rohingya inter-ethnic conflict, demands global attention and coordinated action. In Myanmar’s Rakhine State, the Rohingya, a Muslim minority group, have faced systematic persecution for decades, leading to one of the largest refugee crises in recent history. The conflict has resulted in widespread violence, forced displacement, and allegations of genocide and ethnic cleansing. Thousands of Rohingya have fled to neighboring countries, facing dire humanitarian conditions in refugee camps. This situation raises critical concerns about the protection of minority rights, the role of international law, and the responsibility of states to prevent such atrocities.

Efforts to address the conflict must consider not only immediate humanitarian needs, but also long-term strategies for accountability, reconciliation, and sustainable peace. Delegates will explore the root causes of the conflict, such as historical tensions, discrimination, and statelessness, while proposing solutions for justice and inclusion. Discussions will emphasize the importance of international cooperation, diplomatic engagement, and measures to prevent further violations, ensuring the protection of human rights for all affected populations.
